What is Swimathon?
In 2016, 70 swimmers raised 7.5 million forints for 4 projects, in 2017 140 swimmers raised over 16 million HUF for 7 projects The respective figures for 2018 are more than 18 million HUF raised by 120 swimmers for 6 projects, while for 2019: more than 17.5 million HUF was raised for 7 projects thanks to the campaigns of 140 swimmers. In 2020, there was no Swimathon due to the pandemic.
Swimathon – under normal circumstances, when there is no pandemic, like during Swimathon 2021 – is a four-week crowdfunding campaign, and a fantastic community event. The swimmers choose which cause they want to promote, thus they become the “ambassadors” of the selected project. In their fundraising effort they set their own goal for the distance and time that they choose to swim on the day of the community event. The first Swimathon was organised by the Ferencváros Community Foundation (Ferencvárosi Közösségi Alapítvány, FKA) in 2016. You can follow the crowdfunding campaign preceding the event on this page.
